Growth and networking are the business highlights of Central and Southern New Jersey. Here are some news briefs.

The Toms River Ocean County Chamber of Commerce will hold a business after hours networking event from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pine Belt Nissan, 229 Route 37, Toms River. The event is free with a business card. For information, call 732-349-0110.

Mayor Brian Gallagher likes to say that “Somerville is on the move.Take a look around,” he said. “In the economy we have today, the amount of activity that we have going on is incredible.” Gallagher is referring to the construction on Main Street, where construction is underway on a $100 million retail and luxury apartment development that has been in the works for decades. Over the years the borough’s Planning Board has designated four sections of town as redevelopment zones.
