New Jersey is looking at how it can bring about economic development and jobs, through a coming together of several CEOs and state officials.
The Jersey Journal reports that even in times of high unemployment and declining economy,
The 2010 Forum on the Future of New Jersey, at New Jersey City University, provided the space for Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and Dennis Bone, the president of Verizon, to announce “Choose New Jersey,” of which Bone is the chairman.
“Choose New Jersey will market the state of New Jersey to businesses through cluster-based marketing,” Bone said. “We will develop a staff to brand New Jersey through these clusters – whether it’s New Jersey’s location, recognition in sustainability or transportation.”
So far, 16 CEOs have signed on, and donated about $7 million toward the project. The idea is for the campaign to market and promote the state as “a great place to conduct business.”
The campaign will join up with the state’s Partnership for Action program and Guadagno’s Business Action Center; the goal is not only to bring new businesses to the state, but help ones that are already here thrive.
